Overview
Extensions add length and volume, but the method decides your maintenance calendar, your salon bill and the risk to your natural hair.
This course compares every mainstream method on hold, damage risk, cost and re-fitting interval, and then covers a care routine that prevents matting at the roots.
What you will learn
- Match an extension method to your hair density and lifestyle
- Estimate grams needed for your desired length and thickness
- Understand re-fit intervals and total annual cost
- Care for extensions so bonds and wefts stay tidy
Lessons
- Lesson 1
Every method compared
10 minClip-in to keratin bond.
Clip-ins are damage-free and occasional. Tape-ins last 6–8 weeks per fit and are fast to apply. Keratin bonds last 3–4 months but need professional removal. Wefts suit thick hair, micro-rings suit those avoiding heat and glue.
- Lesson 2
How much hair you need
6 minGrams by length and density.
For 18 inches, most people need 120–150g. Add 20–40g for very thick natural hair or for a dramatic volume change.
- Lesson 3
Care and re-fits
8 minKeeping roots tangle-free.
Brush with a loop brush from ends upward twice daily, never sleep with wet hair, and keep conditioner off the bonds or tape line.
