Overview
Toppers are the right product when you still have hair but it no longer covers the way it used to. They clip on in under a minute and blend with your own length.
The most common mistake is buying a base that is too small for the thinning area, which leaves a visible ring. This course teaches you how to size and blend correctly.
What you will learn
- Measure your thinning area and pick the right base size
- Position clips so they hold without traction damage
- Blend a topper with your own colour and texture
- Know when to graduate from a topper to a full wig
Lessons
- Lesson 1
Sizing the base
6 minMeasure the shadow, not the parting.
Measure the full area where scalp shows in bright light, then add roughly 2cm on every side so the base edges sit on denser hair.
- Lesson 2
Clip placement and comfort
7 minAnchor points that do not pull.
Anchor the front two clips 2cm behind the hairline in strong hair, then the side and back clips. Reposition clips every few weeks so no single spot carries the load daily.

Blending with your own hair
6 minColour, texture and length matching.
Choose a rooted or shaded colour rather than a flat single tone, and have the topper trimmed into your own length by a stylist for a seamless blend.
FAQs
- Will a topper damage my remaining hair?
- Not if you rotate clip positions and remove it at night. Constant tension in one place can cause traction thinning.
- Can I sleep in a topper?
- It is not recommended. Clip toppers should be removed nightly and stored on a stand.
